I knew Kat since 2005 from University. We first connected when we realized that we were Science students living with a bunch of Health Science students. Since then, we would take the same courses today so we could coordinate study sessions in the library together (most of the time Kat would ditch me last minute because she was too “tired”). Our relationship strengthened after we graduated when we were deciding on what paths to take while majority of our friends went to med school.
In the beginning of 2012 when I met up with Kat for lunch, she told me that her big sister, Karen, got engaged. I was completely filled with joy for her sister. Then Kat asked me if I would do the makeup for Karen’s wedding. Without hesitation, I agreed!
In September, I met up with Karen for her trial. This was definitely a memorable day. I just recovered from being sick and completely lost my voice. Kat and her boyfriend were asking me random questions and making snarky comments, knowing that I wouldn’t be able to respond. Karen just sat there, enjoying the show we were putting on. Karen is one super easy going bride. She just told me to do my thing and had complete trust in me.
Given that Karen wears minimal makeup on a daily basis, she wanted a very natural look that would enhance her beauty. We went for neutral eye with a hint of smokiness and false lashes. Not only did Karen love the makeup, so did her mom (Success! got Mom’s approval.)
I remember arriving to their home on the morning of March 23, 2013. As I was approaching the door, George (their Jack Russell-Boston Terrier) was barking notifying Kat that I arrived. Kat opened the door with a huge smile on her face…it was her sister’s day!
Karen was so relaxed and calm. She had everything laid out for the day from pillows for the tea ceremony to potential hair pieces. Karen wanted to spice things up and asked if we could add a bit more smokiness to her eye makeup. Of course I agreed! I love it when brides go for more colour! She looked absolutely glammed up and ready for her big day. Even George was ready with his bow tie!
The morning couldn’t have gone any smoother and you can definitely feel the love all three sisters had for one another.
Congrats Karen & Jae! Thank you for letting me be a part of your wedding!
