This weekend was definitely a makeup filled one…from a wedding to several trials. You know it’s officially wedding season!
One of the most memorable jobs this weekend was for a friend’s mom who was attending her niece’s wedding. Khenny was so cute even before we started communicating via e-mail. She noticed that her son liked my Facebook page and really liked my work so she asked her son if it was okay for her to contact me directly. *tee hee*
This friend is a very special one to me. We actually met in first year of University and if some of you recall my acne post, I mentioned that I had an allergic reaction causing me to be out of school for two weeks. This friend and his girlfriend visited me at my dorm every single day to ask what food I wanted and would get it for me. That moment made me really appreciate our friendship.
My friend’s mom, Khenny, asked if I do hair as well. I primarily do makeup but have dabbled in hair and still learning. Khenny actually pushed me and said she had confidence in me. So I agreed and was truly nervous before going into the job.
Khenny has a remarkable story…she always loved to do her own makeup and hair but when she was diagnosed with a disease, she didn’t have any time to. Luckily, treatment worked and she’s all better now! Having 3 kids and a husband, she stayed positive and strong throughout the entire process. From talking to her, you can see her caring and compassionate nature. She even reminded me to bring my camera to take before & after photos so I can add “mature skin” to my portfolio.
Let me tell you, Khenny’s skin does not even fall close to the “mature skin” category. Her skin is so smooth, soft, and poreless! An ideal canvas for makeup artists to work with. Her hair was short, so we added just a bit of volume with a straightening iron. I’m one of those people that use straightening irons for everything from straightening to adding volume to curling. She loved the entire look and even rocked some false lashes!
The entire time we spent together was nothing but fun. The radio was on and she was singing TOP 40 songs. Thank you Khenny for sharing your personal story with me, pushing me outside my comfort zone, and even sending me this warm e-mail after the wedding!
