REVIEW: Avon Top Coat & Speed Dry+ Nail Enamel

A few weeks ago, I had back-to-back weddings and a few hours in between to rest and get dolled up before attending my friend’s wedding. Needless to say, I was a bit pressed for time in doing my nails.

I needed something quick and easy and boy did I find it. I actually posted a photo on my instagram where I got a lot of inquiries on what products I used.

Opal Top Coat instantly adds iridescent flecks of shimmer to your nails. Speed Dry+ Nail Enamel provides full coverage with a high-shine finish. The new improved formula will dry your nails in 30 seconds along with making it rock hard. These nail polishes are 3-free and does not contain formaldehyde, toluene, or dibutyl phthalate.

REVIEW:
Did the top coat instantly add shimmer to my nails?
It most definitely did! I have to say that this was the most unique top coat I have seen. It catches different colours which coincidentally matched the dress I wore to the wedding. It was a bit tricky to applying at first because like most glitter nail polishes, you have to be strategic on where you apply it. After application, the surface of my nails weren’t smooth due to the flecks of shimmer. To mitigate this, I applied a thicker top coat like Seche Vite to even out the surface.

Did the nail enamel provide full coverage with a high-shine finish?
I was super impressed with the formulation. I only needed one coat in order for it to be fully opaque.

Did it dry within 30 seconds?
Depending on the thickness of the nail polish applied, it may or may not dry in 30 seconds. Because I was a tad heavy handed, it took a few minutes to dry but definitely quicker than other brands like OPI, Essie, Chanel, etc..

Since the formulation contained volcanic rock, did it make my nails feel rock hard?
My nail polish lasted for a good week with a base coat and top coat. Just one thing to note, each time the nail polish chips, the entire piece of shimmer will chip as well creating a very ugly nail. So when your nail polish starts chipping, it’s best to just remove the nail polish entirely.

Would I purchase this product again?
Most definitely! I’m really impressed with the quality of nail polishes that Avon created. For $6.99, it’s cheaper than a lot of higher end and drugstore brands. The best part of these nail polishes is that it’s 3-Free!

For anyone that’s curious, here’s the photo I posted on instagram of my dress. Notice how well the nail polish combination matches the print! Also, this was the first time I successfully applied false lashes on myself!
