So…this blog post is a bit misleading because I didn’t do the makeup for the bride. Yeah…but I did play a part in the makeup.
Let me start from the beginning, I met Gazelle through a mutual friend when Facebook was initially launched in Canada and only exclusive to University students. We quickly became Facebook friends. Fast forward a few years, she fell in love and got engaged to a witty and loving man named Cristian. Through constant spam posts on Facebook of my portfolio, Gazelle noticed I did makeup and contacted me to help teach her how to do her own makeup for her wedding. She was having a destination wedding and wanted some tips on creating a subtle smokey eye and ensuring her makeup lasts through the hot humid weather.
Before we did our workshop, I actually did a trial with Gazelle. This allowed me to see what look she had envisioned along with seeing what makeup products she had already owned. By doing this, it allowed me to see how we could incorporate her makeup products into her look and identify what products she was missing so we could go buy it before the actual workshop. This girl had a lot of good makeup items which are a staple in my kit like the Urban Decay Naked 1 Palette and MAC Face & Body foundation.
The workshop was so much fun. I got to introduce Gazelle the concept of face primers, the difference in filling in your brows just a bit, and how using the right tools can make a difference in your work. By the end of the workshop, I got Gazelle hooked on the Bdellium Tools 776 Blending Brush. It’s a great dupe for the MAC 217 and performs seamlessly in blending to create that smokey eye.
By the end of our workshop, Gazelle nailed it! She created a soft smokey eye with a smudged out liner, lightly defined brows, glowing skin, and a statement red lip!
She was so good that on her wedding day, not only did she do her own makeup, she even did the makeup for her bridal party! Can you say…SUPERSTAR! Don’t believe me? Well check out these stunning images from PAN Photography where they captured Gazelle doing her own makeup and her bridesmaids!
I’m so proud of you Gazelle and I wish you and Cristian a lifetime of happiness! Thanks for letting me be a part of your wedding!
